WASH LESS & LIGHTER -FOR THE LONGEVITY OF THE GARMENT & THE PLANET

General care for all pieces:

Garments can be hung to air, away from direct sun light to keep fresh.

Any stains can be treated before washing by dab cleaning.

Dry on a flat surface with no creases away from direct sunlight. Turn inside out whilst washing & steaming, iron with steam only at low temperatures – as heat can damage the fibres causing shrinkage or corrodes in the weave.

A mesh bag can help protect garments from snagging or twisting too much in the washer.

Do not tumble dry to avoid shrinking.

Natural dyes:

Hand wash separately without soaking- as this can release colour for the first few washes.

Naturally dyed items are pH sensitive : botanical dyes are highly sensitive to citric acids which will change the colour of the fabric. If you come in to contact with these substances, any reaction can generally be neutralized if you immediately rinse the area with cold water.

This can also be effected by natural deodorants which may cause a natural PH chemical mix altering the colour. If you do have any further enquiries regarding natural dyes or issues with a piece, please contact us and we will do our best to work with you to correct it.

Wash in cold water or eco wash with a diluted gentle soap/shampoo or detergent with a low PH. Rinse without wringing and blot with a cloth.
Naturally dyed colors can gradually fade overtime, we hope that you will embrace the characteristics of this ancient medium and embrace the variations that occur.  Following these tips will prolong the life of your garment, which was designed and constructed to live with you day after day, season after season.

Banana silk:

Banana Silk shouldn’t be washed after every wear. Instead, hang silk garments to ventilate, away from direct sunlight which can damage the colour.

Silk is best hand-washed with an eco light detergent in lukewarm water, without soaking as this can release some dye. Rinse the silk garment without wringing.

To machine wash silk, wash at 30°C or lower on an eco wash. Steam iron on a very low heat and not completely on the surface
